Your favorite little black skirt

Written by ogo on . Posted in Beautiful Basics, Black is the new Black

Every stylish gal needs a few perfect little black skirts – to dress up or down, cool off or warm up, for business, pleasure, and everything in between.  Here are a few timeless versions, just listed to the OgoVintage etsy shop, each linked to the listing.

The vintage LANVIN soft jersey wrap fastens at the high waistband only, letting you choose just how much leg you want to show.  The below knee length and narrow cut add to the sex appeal of this special skirt, couture order number 13889.

Channel Catherine Deneuve in her “Belle du Jour” era with the vintage SAINT LAURENT wrap skirt.  The wool crepe knife pleats around the sides and back add to its initial prim appearance.  The flat front wrap panels close only at the waist with two wide hooks, letting you flash as much thigh as you dare.

Make a grand entrance…

Written by ogo on . Posted in Dressed to Impress Dresses

The fashion counterpoint to the adage “You only get to make a first impression once” is that you only get one chance to make an impact with your entrance.   Whether you are attired in haute couture, or your favorite jeans and boots, it always helps to stand a little taller and exude confidence.  Here’s a little posture hint from the dance studio for maximizing your entrance at any location:

1.     Lift your hips off your legs, pull your rib cage up off your hips.

2.     Imagine a string attached to your head and the ceiling pulling you upward.

3.     Press your shoulders down in opposition to your rib cage lifting up.

4.     Reset your balance by widening the shoulder blades so that your upper back is flat.  This will position your sternum slightly forward – the perfect position for balancing on the highest heels with ease.

5.   Use your abdominal muscles to hold the position by imagining your  navel pressed to your backbone and a slight lengthening of the spine from the waist to the tailbone.

Correct posture is an acquired technique, not a naturally occurring phenomenon.  Practice the foregoing steps in front of a mirror at home.  You’ll soon see that you look 10 pounds thinner.  Enter a room with elegant posture and your friends will keep inquiring what you did…  let them think you are in love, or won the lottery, or, perhaps, have had a little “work” done.  The secret will be all ours.  OGO promises not to tell!!

You’ll need a frock worthy of your new found posture skills.  Here are a few suggestions from OgoVintage.  The items that are available online are linked to the  shop.

Perfect 1950s Little Black Dress… an LBD with a wiggle silhouette

Written by ogo on . Posted in Black is the new Black

An elegant classic with exceptional workmanship, direct from the closet of a renowned international Palm Beach socialite.  The curve enhancing fitted silhouette defines the sexy wiggle dress of the 1950s.  When the styling and workmanship are this elegant, the dress is a perfect choice for now and forever.   The illusion sleeves and upper back bodice are made from narrow cords of the douppioni silk, twisted into a soutache coiled geometric pattern.  The douppioni silk is used to create both shantung and douppioni fabrics.  The elegant fabric is woven with slubbed yarns that may resemble a fine denier Thai silk.  This beautiful vintage LBD will be in the ETSY shop, soon to be enroute to a new home.  The photo is linked to the item in the ETSY shop.

Black Friday OgoVintage style

Written by ogo on . Posted in Black is the new Black

Black is ALWAYS the new black.  Really.  No matter which color contender tries to capture the title,  invariably stylish women revert to black.  The icons of style relied on the drama of black.  Audrey Hepburn’s little black dresses were BLACK.  Marlene Dietrich’s tuxedo was BLACK.  Yves Saint Laurent’s “le smoking” ensembles and jackets were invariably black.   Didier Ludot, the infamous Parisian vintage clothing merchant, opened a shop exclusively for black dresses, carrying both vintage originals and his own modern designs, inspired by vintage.  Black is the unofficial color of stylish New Yorkers’ wardrobes.  Black is slimming, black is mysterious, black is the wardrobe basic you reach for again and again.

Ogovintage offers the finest black finery, wonderful additions to your permanent wardrobe.  Which of the following OgoVintage black items inspire you?
